Description: The 1969 World Series was played between the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles, with the Mets prevailing in 5 games to accomplish one of the greatest upsets in Series history, as that particular Orioles squad was (and still is by some baseball pundits) considered to be one of the finest ever. The World Series win earned the team the sobriquet "Miracle Mets," as they had risen from the depths of mediocrity (the 1969 team had the first winning record in Mets history). The Mets became the first expansion team to win a division title, a pennant, and the World Series, winning in their eighth year of existence. The following 1969 New York Mets have hand signed this piece of the Shea Stadium foul pole and have added an inscription: Jim McAndrew (Miracle Mets), Ed Charles (Scored Winning Run Game 2 WS), Jerry Grote (69 WS Catcher), Joe Pignatano (Coach), Jerry Koosman (Game 2,5 Wins), Tom Seaver (Game 4 Win), Al Weis (1st RBI in Mets World Series History), Bobby Pfeil (69 WS Champs), Al Jackson (First Win at Shea), Ron Swoboda (The Catch), Bud Harrelson (69 WS Champs), Rod Gaspar (Scored Winning Run in Game 4),Gary Gentry (Game 3 Win), Nolan Ryan (Game 3 Save), Ron Taylor (1969 Game 2 Save), Ed Yost (Third Base Coach), Cleon Jones (Last Out), Duffy Dyer (Pinch Hit Game # 1), Ed Kranepool (Game 3 HR) and Wayne Garrett (Played Game # 3). An MAB Celebrity Services certificate of authenticity is included.
